Zinc acts as a corrosion protection system. It doesn\u2019t permit moisture and other corrosive elements to assail the steel and corrode till its total consumption before the steel.<div class=\"clearboth\"><\/div><\/div> \n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"clearboth\"><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"mk-accordion-single\"><div class=\"mk-accordion-tab\"><span>What is the life time of galvanized steel?<\/span><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"mk-accordion-pane\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"mk-text-block-408\"  style=\" margin-bottom:0px;text-align: left;\" class=\"mk-text-block  \">The steel underwent HDG process is long-lived. The galvanized steel lasts for more than 75 years, sustaining almost all types of environment and conditions.<div class=\"clearboth\"><\/div><\/div> \n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"clearboth\"><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"mk-accordion-single\"><div class=\"mk-accordion-tab\"><span>Is zinc coating of galvanized steel resistant to abrasion?<\/span><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"mk-accordion-pane\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"mk-text-block-922\"  style=\" margin-bottom:0px;text-align: left;\" class=\"mk-text-block  \">During HDG process there are three metallic layers formed above the steel construction. These layers are tough and harder than the base metal (steel) and have a top-drawer resistance to abrasion. This also nullifies the remedial measures to be taken while handling large and heavy steel segments.<div class=\"clearboth\"><\/div><\/div> \n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"clearboth\"><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"mk-accordion-single\"><div class=\"mk-accordion-tab\"><span>Is HDG process cost-effective than paint systems?<\/span><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"mk-accordion-pane\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"mk-text-block-745\"  style=\" margin-bottom:0px;text-align: left;\" class=\"mk-text-block  \">In terms of cost effectiveness the initially both HDG and paint systems are comparable. But life-cycle costs of HDG are always lower than that of the paint systems because of HDG gives many years of zero maintenance and paint systems requiring constant maintenance. Thus, HDG is a smart choice.<div class=\"clearboth\"><\/div><\/div> \n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"clearboth\"><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"mk-accordion-single\"><div class=\"mk-accordion-tab\"><span>Can hot dipped galvanized steel defy high temperatures for long durations?<\/span><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"mk-accordion-pane\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"mk-text-block-584\"  style=\" margin-bottom:0px;text-align: left;\" class=\"mk-text-block  \">Hot dipped galvanized steel can withstand temperatures up to 200oC and at times more than this. The perfect environment for hot dipped galvanized steel should have temperatures below 200oC. Under temperatures above 200oC good performance can be achieved.<div class=\"clearboth\"><\/div><\/div> \n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"clearboth\"><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"mk-accordion-single\"><div class=\"mk-accordion-tab\"><span>Can you paint over galvanized steel products?<\/span><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"mk-accordion-pane\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"mk-text-block-190\"  style=\" margin-bottom:0px;text-align: left;\" class=\"mk-text-block  \">A layer of paint over the zinc coating results in a corrosion protection system of double strength as compared to both the systems individually. In such an environment where there is less exposure to elements like harmful emissions, galvanized steel can last for an average of 125 years. Steel of differing shapes and sizes can be galvanized.
