More and more companies specify powder coatings for a high-quality, durable finish, allowing for maximized production, improved efficiencies, and simplified environmental compliance. \u00a0Used as functional (protective) and decorative finishes, powder coatings are available in an almost limitless range of colors and textures, and technological advancements have resulted in excellent performance properties.<div class=\"clearboth\"><\/div><\/div> <div class=\"clearboth\"><\/div><div class=\"mk-shortcode mk-padding-shortcode\" style=\"height:30px\"><\/div><div class=\"clearboth\"><\/div><h2 style=\"font-size: 25px;text-align:left;color: #cf2e2e;font-weight:300;margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px; letter-spacing:0px;\" id=\"fancy-title-513\" class=\"mk-shortcode mk-fancy-title simple-style \"><span style=\"\">How Powder Coating Works<\/span><\/h2><div class=\"clearboth\"><\/div><div style=\"padding: 10px 0 10px;\" class=\"mk-divider mk-shortcode divider_full_width thin_solid \"><div class=\"divider-inner\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"clearboth\"><\/div>\t<div id=\"mk-text-block-464\"  style=\" margin-bottom:0px;text-align: left;\" class=\"mk-text-block  \">Powder coatings are based on polymer resin systems, combined with curatives, pigments, leveling agents, flow modifiers, and other additives. \u00a0These ingredients are melting mixed, cooled, and ground into a uniform powder similar to baking flour. \u00a0A process called electrostatic spray deposition (ESD) is typically used to achieve the application of the powder coating to a metal substrate. \u00a0This application method uses a spray gun, which applies an electrostatic charge to the powder particles, which are then attracted to the grounded part. \u00a0After application of the powder coating, the parts enter a curing oven where, with the addition of heat, the coating chemically reacts to produce long molecular chains, resulting in high cross-link density.
